Tax Status. Local Government Accountability Institute, Inc. (“LGAI”) is a Wyoming nonstock nonprofit corporation organized under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code as a social welfare organization. Contributions to LGAI are not tax-deductible to the donor. LGAI does not endorse candidates for public office, does not coordinate with campaigns, and does not receive funding from candidates, political parties, or government contracts. Our mission is educational: to inform the public about the fiscal management, ethics, and governance of local and state government through nonpartisan, fact-based research and publication of public records.
Research & Editorial Standards. All factual claims published by LGAI are drawn from primary public records and cited to their source. Every investigation is independently verified by a second researcher before publication. Corrections are logged publicly and promptly. LGAI is not a law firm, not an accounting firm, and not a financial advisor. Information published on this site is provided for public education and should not be construed as legal, tax, financial, or investment advice.
